Acai Berry: A "super-fruit" from the Amazon forests

Acai berry is a fruit that grows on a type of palm tree in the Amazon jungle. It belongs to the berry family, it is the same size as a grape, and its color is deep purple. Its taste is reminiscent of blackberries and chocolate, while for thousands of years it has been a key part of the diet of the natives of the Amazon region to promote their general health.

In particular, Acai has a high content of proanthocyanidins, substances that protect against the destructive action of free radicals preventing aging.

Also, it has a high concentration of antioxidants, vitamins (A, B1, B2, B3, C, E) minerals (calcium, magnesium, zinc, copper, potassium) while providing amino acids which activate the metabolism.

Acai, among other things, contains the essential fatty acids 3-6-9 and phytosterols which help maintain cholesterol at normal levels, while finally, the high concentration of plant fibers contributes to weight control and in the good functioning of the intestine.
