Propolis
Propolis is a resinous sticky substance that bees collect from various flowers and plants, enrich it with pollen, enzymes, wax and various other substances to seal and disinfect the inside of their hives.
With propolis, bees protect their nest from various hosts, prevent the entry of various enemies, e.g. large butterflies, mice, etc.
This substance has been used for centuries as a natural remedy to heal wounds and treat a wide variety of ailments
What does it contain?
Propolis contains 50 to 55% resins, 20 to 35% wax (a mixture of green wax of plant origin, and added beeswax), 5 to 10% essential oils, pollen, over 40 flavonoids, aliphatic acids, aromatic aldehydes , enzymes, amino acids, sugars and vitamins.
Benefits
Propolis contains flavonoid compounds known for their anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties, as well as tissue strengthening and regenerative properties.
The antioxidants it contains are considered to have antiaging properties in humans.
It is used as an antiseptic as it can prevent the growth of bacteria in cuts and burns and can also promote the healing process in skin lesions that have not healed.
Used as a mouthwash, propolis is able to prevent bad breath, gingivitis and tooth decay.
It is usually taken as a treatment for sore throat
