Sage: The Herb of Immortality
The Arabs believed that it could cure everything. The Latins considered it the sacred plant of immortality, the French call it "Greek tea" and the Chinese call it "Greek brew" and consider it better than tea. The recognition of sage by so many peoples simply reinforces the importance and importance of this herb to humans.
Sage will be found in Southern Greece (Peloponnisos-Nissia), but generally in our country there are 20 species of sage. Prefers sunny areas and stony, barren soils.
Sage is one of the most charismatic and rich in properties herbs of Greece. On Mount Athos, we will find it planted in all the courtyards of the cells and monasteries since it is a necessary medicinal as well as an excellent decoction for the whole winter. In some monasteries this charismatic plant is now systematically grown and dried.
A little history
The ancient Greeks used it as a polypharmacy and it has been praised by Dioscorides, Galen, Aetius and Hippocrates. In ancient times it was used for snake and insect bites, to increase women's fertility and to ward off evil spirits, etc.
