What are the most fertile days of my menstrual cycle?

The menstrual cycle lasts an average of 28 days. It starts on the first day of a woman's period and ends the day before the next one starts. Your cycle may be smaller or larger, but this need not worry you. Each woman's menstrual cycle can vary from 23 to 35 days.

About midway through the menstrual cycle, an egg is released from the ovary and then travels down the fallopian tube, a process known as ovulation. Between ovulation and the start of the next period, there is a gap of 12 to 16 days in most women.

In women with a regular 28-day cycle, ovulation most commonly occurs on day 14. If your cycle is longer, for example 35 days long, chances are your fertile days are between the 19th and 25th. If you have a shorter cycle, for example 23 days, it is more likely that you will ovulate between the 7th and 13th day.

As we understand because there are only a few days in each cycle when a woman can conceive, intercourse on those days is very important if you are trying to get pregnant.
