Glowing Skin from the Inside

How does diet affect our appearance?

Skin can often be one of the most neglected areas, despite being the largest organ in our body. Its external care is very important, but the biggest change can be seen as soon as we start feeding the skin cells from the inside.

What to eat

We all know the saying, "We are what we eat".  But few of us really take the time to understand and appreciate how the food we put into our bodies affects our overall health, energy, and appearance. The best way to truly glow from the inside out is to ensure you consume a variety of superfoods. Vitamin C is a powerful superfood and antioxidant. It is essential for maintaining a strong immune system and is a key ingredient in giving you healthy, glowing skin. Luckily, it's not too hard to find in many fruits and vegetables! Besides oranges, you can also get good amounts of vitamin C from blueberries, papayas, strawberries, kiwis, and even sweet potatoes!

An easy way to add some of these to your diet is to mix some blueberries with yogurt or cereal at breakfast. Foods high in healthy fats like avocados, nuts and seeds can also provide a host of benefits - plus they keep you fuller for longer!

What to drink

One way I've found to make sure you're getting enough water on a daily basis is to always have two large water bottles full to drink from throughout the day. These, combined with other sources of fluid intake will keep the skin hydrated and fresh!

Coconut water
Coconut water has strong moisturizing properties and is also a good source of vitamin C, potassium, calcium and magnesium.

Fresh juices
Juices and smoothies are also great for getting various nutrients. The vitamins and nutrients they contain are good for healing the skin and keeping it healthy. To avoid preservatives and added sugars try making your own instead of buying one ready made.
