Autumn - Winter

Autumn is already here, bringing with it the seasonal viruses of the respiratory system such as the flu, the common cold and others that will continue to plague us throughout the following winter months.

The constant changes in temperature and increased humidity, characterized by autumn, combined with poor nutrition and   socializing with other people in closed spaces, such as offices, classrooms and public transport, lead to an exacerbation of viruses.

The common cold is the most common contagious disease of the season, which is usually accompanied by a cough, runny nose and low fever. Infections are caused by viruses that are transmitted from person to person, mainly through coughing and sneezing. These viruses become harmful if they enter the body. They stick to the mucous membrane of the nose or larynx causing nasal discomfort and scratchy throat and spread to the upper respiratory system and more rarely to the lungs.Children are more susceptible to viruses in general and flu in particular than adults strong>, as their immune system is not yet fully developed.

Prevention is always better than cure. The "key" to preventing viruses is a healthy and strong immune system which helps us fight off bacterial and viral infections. A balanced diet, appropriate exercise, adequate sleep and a generally healthy lifestyle can contribute to strengthening the good functioning of the immune system.

How to deal with the symptoms of the common cold

Stuffy nose

Use a natural decongestant (saline, seawater solution) to decongest the nasal cavity from mucus. These preparations offer immediate relief and soothe nasal inflammation.

Cough and sore throat

A cough and sore throat due to a virus or a cold is often annoying and can disrupt your daily life. You can choose natural solutions from plant extracts with their antiseptic, antimicrobial and decongestant properties that relieve coughs by soothing the respiratory system.

To relieve and treat an irritated throat, always have   with you and take lozenges (from honey, eucalyptus, thyme and sage) that soften the throat and free breathing

Fever

It is worth remembering that a mild to moderate fever is not a problem and is not always dangerous. In fact, it's one of the ways our body tries to fight off a virus or a cold. Just with a thermometer you try to check your body temperature regularly.

Dehydration

The high temperature can dehydrate you, so it's important to drink plenty of fluids. Tea and herbal drinks in general, in addition to hydrating the body, contribute to the body's defenses and speed up recovery.

Muscle pains

Creams and ointments with essential oils of eucalyptus, cedar, nutmeg and other natural ingredients contribute to the decongestion of the respiratory tract, relieving the muscle pains of the common cold, soothing the cough and reducing the feeling of discomfort in the chest.

Apivita, Korres, Power Health, Solgar, Health Aid, A.Vogel, Quest, Vitabiotics, Lamberts, Lanes and Nature's Plus, our allies again this autumn , offer us the best products that shield the body's defenses and help us deal effectively with the viruses of the season.
