Which foods help joint health?


With the passage of time and as we grow older, it is natural for our joints to strain, making our everyday life difficult. Incorrect body posture at work or sleep, daily workouts, maybe even some  chronic inflammatory conditions, burden the joints making our movements difficult. Especially older people, due to the passage of time, it is common to face problems of wear and tear of the joints and their movement has started to become difficult.

There is no specific food that cures joint pain, however, the role of nutrition is important in fighting inflammation, strengthening bones and strengthening the immune system.


Red meat, legumes and green leafy vegetables

The above foods are very rich in iron, a particularly important component for the body, since it has been observed that the appearance of arthritis coincides with cases of anemia. Legumes are very rich in folic acid, which contributes to the absorption of iron and helps to reduce the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, which is one of the most common forms of the condition.


Dairy products

Everyone knows that calcium "builds" strong bones, what they may not know is that it also helps with joint health. Milk, cheese and yogurt on a daily basis is the best possible method of prevention, for diseases such as osteoarthritis. Vitamin D offers enhanced absorption. Tuna, sardines, eggs, liver and dairy products are rich sources of this vitamin!


Citrus

Oranges, lemons, grapefruit are rich in vitamin C and we need them for their strong anti-inflammatory action.


Oily fish

Salmon, tuna, herring and mackerel are fish rich in omega 3 fatty acids, which is why they should not be missing from our weekly diet.
