Recovery Proteins

Why is protein important after exercise?

The body immediately after the exercise, starts the recovery process, i.e. it adapts and prepares itself to be ready for the training that is to follow. There are two main types of restoration. The first is the restoration of carbohydrate and fat fuel stores that provide energy to the muscles and the second is adaptation, in which the structural and metabolic function of the muscles is rebuilt more strengthened and efficient.

Different types of exercise essentially provide the stimulus for a different type of recovery. For example, after endurance training, there is an increase in enzymes and building blocks for fat metabolism and for better resistance to physical exhaustion. Accordingly, after weight training, an increase in muscle fiber strength and size is observed. Speed training causes both. Enzymes and muscle fibers are made of protein, therefore, adaptation depends on increasing protein synthesis ie the construction of new proteins. However, the degree of protein synthesis after exercise depends on the balance between protein breakdown and synthesis.

From all the above we understand that taking protein immediately after exercise is particularly important. Most protein should come from high-quality sources such as milk, meat, fish, chicken, or beans. If your protein needs are high, you can supplement the required amount through a protein drink.

In our online store you will find a wide range of recovery proteins from the best known sports supplement companies such as Lamberts, Now Sports, First Endurance, SCN, GU and My Elements.
